Over the last week or so, there has been discussion at various fora regarding plans to expand the Nexus's purpose and services we offer. Some of the ideas under discussion were in regards to using Talk Rational as a host forum for Nexus discussions. Variants of this idea included a complete merger with Talk Rational to a new "Republic of Freethought" which would serve as an umbrella organization for the Nexus and Talk Rational, amongst other entities. After careful consideration of our purpose and what would work best in order to increase NN's prominence as a "beacon" for the nontheist community, we have decided not to consider any potential merger or close affiliation with one particular community in the interest of maintaining our independence and our neutrality. |
